FUN FACTS ABOUT OUR FIRM
Mike Carmoney started collecting pinball machines during the 2020 pandemic. His hobby grew over the years to not only collecting but also restoring and repairing classic pinball machines. Today, he has 32 pinball machines, which are housed in various locations like the firm’s office and even a local residential facility for adults with special needs. These machines were manufactured from 1971 through 2024 and Mike performs any maintenance needed to keep the machines in pristine condition. After a long day in the office many in the firm will gather for rounds of pinball to blow off steam. The hobby has spread amongst the firm, and some have started their own collections or have traveled to conventions showcasing these machines. Attorney Lisa Perdue even holds a high score on one machine, Fish Tales, that falls within the Top 40 ranked on Pinside’s Top 100.
IOWA MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL
Mock trial is a program designed to provide students with a greater understanding of the judicial system. For more than 20 years, Urbandale mock trial has been dependent upon volunteers in order to provide middle and high school students with the opportunity to participate. Carmoney Law Firm attorney Lisa Perdue began volunteering with Urbandale Mock Trial in 2012, when her daughter began competing in sixth grade. From 2013 until 2019, Lisa’s home was regularly filled with the sounds of mock trial kids practicing directs, opening, closing and objections. In 2019, the firm relocated to Urbandale and opened its doors to Lisa’s teams to provide them a space to consistently practice. When Covid forced mock trial to take place via Zoom in 2021, the firm offered its technology and office space to allow Lisa’s teams to continue to compete, albeit remotely from the firm’s conference rooms. During that time, office workdays were accompanied by the presence of Urbandale high school students preparing for competition. Since 2012, Lisa coached three middle school mock trial teams at Urbandale until 2018 and four high school mock trial teams before her retirement in 2026. In those years, her middle school teams qualified for State five times and her high school teams qualified for State seven times.
MEET SKYE AND REMY
Skye and Remy are two golden retrievers owned by our partner Amanda Richards. They joined Carmoney Law Firm in 2025 and can be seen working in our Quad Cities office. Skye, an English Cream Golden Retriever, is an AKC Certified Advanced Therapy Dog and has attended over 100 therapy dog visits in the community. With a special focus on supporting children and teens, Skye has visited libraries, schools, and colleges, and supports mental health organizations to help young people navigate life’s toughest challenges. She has touched the lives of thousands with her gentle spirit and wagging tail. Her “little sister,” Remy, a dark red Golden Retriever, passed her Canine Good Citizen test in 2025 and loves working with adults and teens. Both Skye and Remy bring warmth, comfort, and smiles to everyone at the firm and all who walk through our doors. You can follow their adventures on Instagram at @skyeandremytails.
