Michael A. Carmoney is a well-known trial attorney based in Des Moines, Iowa. During his legal career, Mike has successfully represented many individuals, businesses, municipalities, and insurance companies in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Mike is a veteran of numerous civil jury and bench trials throughout Iowa. He holds a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV-Preeminent, the highest peer review rating available to those in the legal profession.

Mike is a graduate of Wittenberg University and Drake University Law School. He also graduated from the prestigious Trial Academy conducted by the International Association of Defense Counsel at Stanford University. Mike is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in Iowa, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. He is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association and the Polk County Bar Association.
Mike is the co-author of two legal textbooks: “Bad Faith Litigation in Iowa” (published 2003, NBI) and “Practical Legal Ethics in Iowa: Issues and Answers” (published 2002, NBI) and has given numerous presentations on a variety of topics related to civil trial practice.
In 2010, Mike successfully passed the examination to become a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI). He is a member of the National Association of Fire Investigators, the International Association of Arson Investigators, and serves as Honorary Counsel to the Iowa/Nebraska Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units.
In 2017, Mike was appointed by the Iowa Supreme Court to its Grievance Commission, a quasi-judicial body which presides over and rules upon cases involving attorney discipline.
